Wise Online Academy

Promoting and bringing diversity to the workplace through education and training.

Wise Online Academy (WOA) Employment Specialist Core Training Series is an ACRE-approved* online employment professional core competency training series. It is designed to provide employment professionals the training, knowledge, and skills they need to deliver quality competitive integrated employment services to people with developmental and intellectual disabilities.

Wise delivers the WOA as a series of four online courses presented quarterly throughout the calendar year.  Each course includes 4-5 instructor-led 2-hour webinars and offline skill building activities presented over a 2-3 week period. The series includes a total of 40 hours of training. Students leave with materials and a certificate of completion for each course.  Students who complete all four courses earn the ACRE certification* and receive an ACRE certificate.

Completion criteria:  1) Attendance at all webinars (students can miss up to 1 hour of instruction for each course) and 2) completion of all offline skill-building activities.  Recordings of webinars will be provided to enrolled students in the case of a personal or work emergency making it impossible for them to attend a webinar. It is expected that students will attend all scheduled sessions.

*ACRE Certification: WOA is accredited by the Association of Community Rehabilitation Educators (ACRE). ACRE is a national membership organization for trainers and educators who work in the field of employment for people with disabilities. They share a common mission of advocacy through education to improve the quality of employment services for people with disabilities.
